Event Topic Introduction
Good declarer play is obviously crucial to scoring well in duplicate bridge sessions. The best players consistently manage to make an additional trick than most of the field and hence score well on a particular board. Over the weekend we will be exploring techniques to help you extract the maximum number of tricks from any hand.
We will examine declarer play in No Trump contracts where you have to identify the number of top tricks you have and then decide the best strategy to gather additional tricks, while keeping control of the hand. We will also look at declarer play in suit contracts where you have the additional complication of whether or not to draw trumps in any given contract. We will also be looking at the technique of assessing the number of losers in your hand alongside the number of top tricks.
By the end of the weekend you should be more confident whether declaring suit contracts or playing in No Trumps and hopefully more often joining the group of successful declarers who make one more trick than most of the field!
