Sacrificing is a key element in the game of duplicate pairs bridge. The scoring system drives players towards bidding a contract that they believe is unlikely to make, simply to stop their Opponents making their contract. Deciding whether to allow your opponents to play in their high level contract, penalise them with a double, or declare a contract in your own suit, is rarely clear-cut. Many of you will have been tackling Bernard’s ‘5 level decision’ during his live seminars which are a constant reminder of just how tricky these decisions are. This seminar event will guide you through the sacrificing decision-making process and remove much of the guess-work. It will make sure you truly understand the meaning of the bids leading up to the 5 level decision and how to use this information to tip the odds in your favour. After each seminar there will be an opportunity to play some BMB set hands to reinforce what we have learned during the lesson. We will also be playing duplicate bridge using computer-dealt random hands and there will be a small prize for the partnership that demonstrates proficiency in what we have learned.
