Step back thousands of years on a fascinating guided visit to Knossos, Crete’s most celebrated archaeological site and one of the Mediterranean’s most important ancient landmarks. Our journey begins with a morning departure from the hotel on Tuesday, 20th October (08:30 – 13:30 approx.), travelling towards Heraklion and into the heart of the island’s remarkable Minoan past.

Led by an English-speaking guide, we will explore the impressive remains of the Palace of Knossos, once the ceremonial and political centre of the Minoan civilisation. Wander among grand halls, intricate passageways and beautifully restored frescoes as our guide brings this extraordinary ancient world to life, revealing the history, culture and architecture of a civilisation that flourished more than 3,000 years ago.

Along the way, discover the myths and legends forever associated with Knossos, from King Minos to the famous tale of the Minotaur and the Labyrinth. With included entrance to the archaeological site, this memorable excursion offers a captivating journey through history, mythology and one of Crete’s greatest cultural treasures.

Discover the heart of Heraklion on a fascinating guided walking tour through Crete’s vibrant capital, where centuries of history sit alongside the lively atmosphere of a modern Mediterranean city. Beginning near the waterfront, our walk commences on Thursday, 22nd October (08:30 – 13:30 approx.) and takes us past the fishing port and the imposing Koules Fortress, formerly known as Rocca al Mare, which once guarded the entrance to the city alongside Heraklion’s vast defensive walls — among the longest in Europe.

Continuing through the historic centre, we will pass by the elegant Venetian Loggia, built in the 16th century as a meeting place for the city’s nobility. Today, this beautifully restored building houses Heraklion’s Town Hall and stands as an impressive reminder of the city’s Venetian heritage, having received the prestigious Europa Nostra Award for its restoration. From here, we continue to Lion Square, one of Heraklion’s liveliest meeting places, centred around its famous fountain and surrounded by cafés, shops and the bustle of everyday Cretan life.

A highlight of the tour is a visit to the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, home to one of the world’s most important collections of Minoan artefacts. Discover extraordinary treasures uncovered across Crete, including pottery, jewellery, sculptures and beautifully preserved frescoes, offering a deeper insight into the island’s ancient civilisation and providing the perfect complement to a visit to Knossos.
